How to Measure Your Head
Before you start: We recommend styling your hair like it will be under the wig. Best results are to either braid straight back in flat cornrows, braid in a flat beehive, or wrap it flat back. Get the hair as flat and as tight as possible before taking the measurements. This will eliminate bulges that distort head contours. IMPORTANT: Make sure that your measurements are ACCURATE. If you do not measure properly, your wig may not fit. So take your measurements at least 2-3 times to be sure. Use a soft measure tape to measure. We take measurements in whole and half inches. So please round your measurements up not down. Example: 12 3/4 should be rounded up to 13 and 12 1/4 should be rounded up to 12 1/2.
The averages below are just to give you an example. Not everyone will meet these measurements - some may be under or over and that is perfectly fine.
| 1. The Circumference of the Head: | |
Measure all around the head. Position tape measure so its edge follows the hair line around the head and nape of the neck. (Example Measurement: 22 inches). |
| 2. From Forehead to Nape of Neck: | |
| 3. Ear to Ear Across Front Hairline: | |
At the front of ear, measure from hairline at base of sideburn, up across the hair line along forehead to same point in front of other ear. (Example Measurement: 12 inches). |
| 4. From Ear to Ear Over Top of Head: | |
Measure from hairline directly above the ear across top of head to the hairline directly above the other ear. (Example Measurement: 13 inches). |
| 5. Point to Point: | |
From temple to temple across the back of head. (Example Measurement: 14 inches). Note: Place the tape measure at your temple to temple point on each side of your head as shown in the picture. Keeping in mind that your cap is glued to the outside perimeter of your natural hairline in this area as well. Then ADD 1 inch to the measurement results. This is VERY IMPORTANT. If you do not add the inch, your wig will be too small and will not be able to be glued in front of your hairline. |
| 6. Nape of Neck: | |
Measure the width of hairline across the nape of the neck. (Example Measurement: 5 1/2 inches). |
